"Máximo Juderías was born in Zaragoza in 1867. He began his studies at the fine art academy in his home town. In 1883 he went to live in Madrid to continue his training at the San Fernando Academy. He decorated the mansions of Don Rafael Ruiz Martínez and Don Enrique de Aguilera, 17th Marquis of Cerralbo. He made the sketches for the mansion of the Duchess of Castro Enríquez. Disheartened by this commission - the project was not realised owing to his expression of the theme - he took up residence in Paris, where he was awarded several prizes. The shock of the first world war drove him to abandon the city and establish himself in Sardañola (Barcelona). He stopped working and produced only a few paintings and charcoal studies for his own pleasure, signing them with his second surname, "Caballero". He died in Sardañola in 1951. Spanish school."
